8 Things You Can Do this Week to be Healthier and Happier

Screen Shot 2016-05-06 at 3.17.20 PMSummer is less than 45 days away and I’ve had lots of people asking me, “How can I get in shape before summer?” Here are 10 things you can do this week to be healthier and happier.

  1. Exercise: While nutrition plays a big role in getting healthy, it is still very important to get your exercise in. I try to exercise 3 to 5 times a week. It helps me stay focused and feeling great.
  2. Drink lots of Water: Many of us don’t drink enough water on a daily basis. I recommend drinking half of your body weight in ounces daily. The easiest way to do this is to get a water bottle that is around that amount and keep it with you throughout the day.
  3. Cleanse: Doing a cleanse is a great way to rid your body of toxins and impurities the natural way. I like the cleanse for life product: click here for more information. This synergistic blend of natural cleansing herbs and botanicals nourishes your body’s systems to help boost metabolism and energy levels.
  4. Do something for yourself: Find some time to do something for yourself. Life can be super busy, but by taking some time to do something just for you, when you get back to your hectic schedule you will feel less stressed and happier. I enjoy a good massage. I put away my phone and enjoy the quiet alone time.
  5. Skip the fried food: Fried food may be tasty, but it wreaks havoc on your health. Skip the fries and order a salad instead.
  6. Keep a consistent bedtime: Getting the right amount of sleep is critical to being healthy and happy. Pick a bedtime and stick with it. Put away your device 30 minutes prior. Blue light can mess with your sleep pattern and ability to fall asleep.
  7. Track, track, track: I love my fit bit. It sends me reminders, like when it’s time to get ready for bed, my daily activities/steps and my sleep habits.
  8. Don’t skip breakfast: Eating breakfast kick-starts your metabolism for the day, so don’t skip it. It is so important to eat within the first hour or two after waking up. I love my yummy shakes for breakfast, but regardless of what you choose, skip the sugary options and go for something healthy.
